A professor from the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment in Germany will give lectures on parasitology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Livestock Technology of KATRU

A meeting took place between Professor, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Head of the Biological Safety Department of the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (Berlin, Germany) Carsten Knockler and the KATRU Rector.

Cooperation between Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University and the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment already has its own history. Over the years, doctoral students and teachers of KATRU underwent internships at the Institute. As part of academic mobility, Dr. Anne Mayer-Scholl gave lectures on parasitology at the University in 2016 and co-supervised her doctoral dissertation with a KATRU scientist. And in 2023, Seifullin University and the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment signed an agreement.

The purpose of the current meeting was to discuss further prospects for cooperation between the Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University and the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment.

Chairman of the Board - Rector Kanat Tireuov emphasized during the meeting that recently, when the heads of state of Kazakhstan and Germany met and outlined their intention to intensify cooperation in science and education, work to strengthen cooperation with German higher education institutions and research centers has been especially fruitful. Kanat Maratovich shared his impressions after his recent visit to the Rector’s Conference at the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences in Germany. He explained to the guest the ongoing process of transforming KATRU into a world-class university.

During the current week, Professor Knockler will give problem lectures for students, undergraduates, and doctoral students in the field of Veterinary Medicine, during which he will specifically discuss the pathogens of parasites in food products. The professor will introduce to the teaching staff of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Livestock Technology the Department of Biological Safety at the University of Berlin during a separate seminar.

Also, as part of Carsten Knockler’s visit, it is planned to visit the research platform of agricultural biotechnology and to discuss promising scientific directions.
