The history of the holiday began in 1992 at the UN conference in Rio de Janeiro, dedicated to environmental issues. It also paid attention to the role of environmental education of the population.
The purpose of the holiday is to promote environmental knowledge, form an environmental culture, and inform about current environmental problems and the state of the environment. Of course, the Day of Environmental Knowledge is an occasion for actions, lectures, seminars, round tables, exhibitions, contests dedicated to ecology.
This day is significant not only for specialists in this field, but also for all people of the planet, because the future of all mankind depends on it.
With the help of regular celebration, environmental knowledge is spread, the ecological culture of the population is formed, the public is informed about the state of affairs in the field of environmental safety and the state of the environment, citizens develop the ability to think environmentally.
